'Watch the Tie!' is a phrase a mum wrote on the top of her copy of music. It made me smile and I referred to it as that ever since.
Skills Analysis
The skill of following a rhythm accurately is highly beneficial therefore the minimal use of notes allows a focus on the rhythm but enough to bring the mind to refocus on the task in hand. This refocusing of the mind has shown, in my lessons, to reinforce the original lesson and allow the re learning to happen with greater speed.
Practice Strategy
The learning objective behind this piece is the understand and observance of the tie. Initially with this piece focus on the rhythm, tap the rhythm for the right hand on the right knee. Follow this with the rhythm for the left hand on the left knee. When you are confident put them together away from the keyboard on your knees. When this is comfortable add the notes on the keyboard slowly, sometimes the addition of an extra task can destabilase the that which has already been learnt.
Demonstration Video
This demonstration video is an example of how the piece sounds after the recommended period of practice. This is a minimum of four consecutive days focused practice of five to ten minutes a day.
The podcast is a short talk radio style audio on practise, how to work through the piece, resources available and how different sections of the piece can be practised. This is available on Spotify via the direct link on the pink button, '1. Link to the Podcast.'
If you required a copy of the music is available to purchase or download using our 100% discount code via link on the yellow button '2. Link to Music Download'
