Junior Fluency: D3

The purpose of this piece is to introduce the note D3 using crotchets and minims and the time signature of three over four.

Demonstration

This is how the piece should sound after seven days practise.




Requirements

Practice Notes

  1. Read the letter names out loud.

  2. Read the music and say out loud the finger numbers you would expect to use.

  3. Using the relevant flash cards from the PDF provided lay out the letter names in order on the table or floor. Print the pages as many times as required to have the correct number of notes.

  4. Using the rhythm cards from the PDF provided lay out the rhythm for each bar and clap or play using a percussion instrument. A tambourine would be a good option for this. (Link: How to play the tambourine for rhythm work)

  5. Sit at the piano or keyboard. (Link: Explanation video)

  6. Your knees slightly under the keys

  7. Allow your left arm to hang by your side in a relaxed position

  8. When ready lift and place with the 4th finger on D3, keeping the natural curve of the hand.

  9. Tap each key required in the correct rhythm.

  10. Play the piece saying the finger numbers out loud.

  11. Play the piece saying the letter names out loud.

  12. Play complete focusing on each note as it sounds.
