This popular song is based on a French Folk Song which is often known as Au Clair de la Lune. It was made into a Church song called 'Jesus Hands are Kind Hands' and is found in many primary school teaching books. It is considered to be from the 18th century.


This is the music for the first two lines which have the following words


Au clair de la Lune Mon ami Pierrot


This means "In the moonlight, My friend Pierrot"
